A Whimsical Afternoon Tea for Loewe x Studio Ghibli at Selfridges

To celebrate the Loewe x Studio Ghibli collection inspired by Howl’s Moving Castle, Balbosté transformed Selfridges’ Dolly’s Café into Calcifer’s Kitchen, an immersive afternoon tea experience that welcomed 5,000 guests over one month. Custom-designed serving trays staged a menu of intricate sweet and savory creations, each inspired by the film’s characters and themes.

A bespoke cocktail menu, with and without alcohol, enriched the experience—fiery and smoky for Calcifer, airy and ethereal for the sky and clouds, and bold for Aru with the "Aru-bomb" creation. Each drink mirrored the film’s contrasts and emotions, adding another sensory layer to the journey. Set in a scenography blending handcrafted tableware with Loewe’s refined aesthetic, this unique dining experience merged fashion, cinema, and gastronomy into a magical, multi-sensory adventure.
